Plot summary

It is 4 years after the events described in the first novel. The Angel has reached adult-hood and is being held at Tanaka institute. However, she manages to escape, wreaking havok in her path and returns to Pacific's Mariana Trench. And Jonas is left with no option but to pursue the shark to the trench, and also plans to rescue his wife Terry, who has stumbled upon an undersea operation led by the energy mogul Benedict Singer to exploit rocks containing the rare gas Helium-3 to create fusion in the Pacific. Once in the Trench, they find a prehistoric monster called Kronosaurus that has evolved to hunt in packs and has evolved gills.

Interestingly, Osama Bin Laden is also mentioned as one of the financial backers of Benedict Singer, the main antagonist.
