Berg Lake is located within Mount Robson Provincial Park, at the doorstep of the north face of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

The turquoise colored Berg Lake is dotted with icebergs even in the middle of summer. Berg Lake can be reached by following a marked hiking trail for 17½ kilometres from the parking lot. To reach the parking lot, follow the Yellowhead Highway (#16) west from Jasper townsite for 84 kilometres (53 miles) to the Mount Robson Viewpoint centre. On the north side of the highway, follow a two-lane paved road for two kilometres, ending at the parking lot. The parking lot is a good size and you should have no problem finding a spot, even if you arrive by late morning.

Berg Lake Trail

The trail climbs gradually alongside the Robson River (a tributary of the Fraser River) for 4.2 kilometres before reaching Kinney Lake. The Kinney Lake campground is located just 2½ kilometres further along. Around kilometre 8, you cross the first bridge over the Robson River. In the next few kilometres, you then cross two steel bridges over the Robson River. The first is a suspension bridge. Following the second bridge, steep switchbacks begin. Over the next few kilometres, you pass White Falls, Falls-of-the-Pool and Emperor Falls, collectively referred to as the Valley of a Thousand Falls. Finally, once above this valley, the trail levels off and dips down toward the river, providing the first glimpses of the Emperor Face of Mt. Robson.

The Berg Lake campground is situated 19.6 kilometres from the trail head. Two popular days trips from this campground include Hargrieves Glacier/Mumm Basin/Toboggan Falls and Snowbird Pass.
