"Art School Confidential" is a 2006 comedy-drama film directed by Terry Zwigoff, loosely based on the comic of the same name by Daniel Clowes. The film is Zwigoff's second collaboration with Clowes, the first being 2001's "Ghost World" (which was also released by United Artists). The cast includes Max Minghella, Sophia Myles, John Malkovich, Jim Broadbent, and Anjelica Huston.The movie was partially filmed at Otis. Otis Foundation Professor Gary Garaths worked as a consultant on the film.

The movie has since received mixed reviews, with 37 percent out of 100 on the review-aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, and 54/100 on Metacritic.

Plot

Starting from childhood attempts at illustration, young Jerome (Max Minghella) pursues his true obsession to art school. But as he learns how the art world really works, he finds that he must adapt his vision to the reality that confronts him.

* During the Halloween party sequence, one of the guests is dressed just like Enid (Thora Birch) from "Ghost World", also directed by Terry Zwigoff.
* During the television interviews that take place near the end while Jerome is in jail, Vince (Ethan Suplee) is dressed like director Kevin Smith. Ethan Suplee appeared in four of Kevin Smith's films; "Mallrats", "Dogma","Chasing Amy", and "Clerks II".
*Both Steve Buscemi and Marc Vann make cameos in "Art School". They both appeared in Zwigoff's "Ghost World".
*The film subtly references "Fargo" when Steve Buscemi says, "Listen to me, Jerry," to someone on the phone, as his character in "Fargo" repeatedly did.
