- Don't Let Me Down & Down
-
"Don't Let Me Down & Down" is a song by Tahra and Martine Valmont. Tahra is a Mauritanian princess that recorded the song for a French CD release produced by Martine Valmont. Tahra wrote the Arabic lyrics for the song, but it was translated into English by Valmont.
Iman came to visit Tahra in Paris around 1993, listened to the song and loved it immediately. She brought the tape back to Switzerland and persuaded her husband David Bowie to rework it for his Black Tie White Noise album. Bowie also recorded a version with Indonesian lyrics. This appeared on the Indonesian release of Black Tie White Noise, and later on the bonus disc following the 10th anniversary edition of the album.
It was originally scheduled for a single release but the bankruptcy of Savage Records in the US prevented it from single promotion campaign.
