Joanne Bristol is a Canadian
performance artist based inBanff, Alberta .Joanne Bristol is an artist and writer who has presented installations, single-channel videos and performances across North America for the past15 years. Current projects include bentaerial, a work for the web about technology, obsolescence and invention, and The Institute for Feline &Human Collaboration (IFHC), a site for ongoing projects in interspecies communication and interaction, based in Banff, Canada. Previous IFHC research hasfocused on perception and the articulation and demarcation of space by animals. IFHC's current area of investigation looks at how interactions with animalsinform our understanding of interactions with machines. Joanne also curates, writes about contemporary art and teaches at the
Alberta College of Art & Design . Her classes focus on design and new media technologies and how their implications interact with human identity. She is also working towards a feature-length film project with Anthony Kiendl, entitled Comfy Hostage.External links
