Anhangüera

Anhangüera originates from a word in Tupi-Guarani language which was the nickname given by Brazilian Indians to an explorer and "bandeirante", Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva (1672-1740). It means "old devil" or "malignant spirit", because he impressed the Indians with tricks of setting fire to a plate full of sugarcane brandy (cachaça).
