George Basevi

George Basevi

Elias George Basevi FRS (1 April, 1794–16 October, 1845) was an English architect. He was a pupil of Sir John Soane.

Buildings he designed include the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, Belgrave Square, London and stables at Bretton Hall. He died by falling off the tower of Ely Cathedral while attempting to survey it. Fellow of the Royal Society in 1843.
