- Georg Kåhre
George Kåhre (1899 - 1969) was a
teacher andauthor on theÅland Islands ,Finland . He wrotepoetry andprose , as well as factual books.Kåhre debuted in 1928 with the poetryanthology "Staden med de tusen lindarna", released under thepseudonym Stefan Sylwander. He would use this pseudonym until 1933, when his firstnovel , "Strandhugg", was released under his own name. The novel won a shared first prize in a contest organized by a Swedishpublisher .
Kåhre's most famous work in English is probably "The last tall ships", a translation of "Den åländska segelsjöfartens historia" (1940), which was released posthumously in 1978.
Two poetry anthologies, "Ord och vågor" and "Söndag i världen", were released after his death.Bibliography
