1916 -September 16 ,1998 ) was aKorea n poet, born inAnseong 40 miles fromSeoul in modern-day South Korea. His family was too poor to give him any formal education. His first publications were two poems that came out in 1939.During Japanese colonial rule over Korea between 1910 and 1945, the Japanese forbade any publications in the
Korean language . Later in his life, he became a renowned writer, contributing to Korea's modern literary voice.His poems include:
