Jules de Balincourt (born 1972 in
Paris ) is a French painter. He was educated at theCalifornia College of Arts and Crafts ,San Francisco receiving a BFA (1998) and went on to study at theHunter College ,New York graduating in 2005 with an MFA. He lives and works inBrooklyn , New York. He uses stencils, tape, knives and spray paint in the style ofOutsider art . Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris andPalais de Tokyo in Paris, and has been featured in several high profile exhibitions including, “Greater New York” at thePS1 Center for Contemporary Art andMOMA in New York, and “USA Today” atThe Royal Academy in London. His work is in several prominent collections, including the Oppenheimer – JCCC Collection for theNerman Museum of Contemporary Art , and theSaatchi Gallery . He is represented byZach Feuer Gallery in New York.De Balincourt founded the alternative art space Starr Space (formerly known as Starr Street Projects) in Brooklyn, NY. "Currently the space is used for dance and music performances, screenings, figure drawing, yoga, fundraisers and local church parties, and is constantly looking to expand in programming. "The future of the space, with hope, will encompass even more diverse happenings, leading to a regular congregation that reflects the quickening evolvement of the neighborhood."
