WFXU and WTLF are The CW television affiliate stations serving the Tallahassee, Florida television market. WFXU's analog transmitter is located near Jasper, while its digital transmitter is located near Metcalf, Georgia.

WFXU is licensed to Live Oak, Florida and broadcasts its analog signal on UHF channel 57; it is allocated UHF channel 48 for its digital signal, which is not on the air yet. WFXU has an application on file to relocate channel 48's transmitter to west of High Springs, near Gainesville, with the intent to refocus its viewership on that market, leaving WTLF as the sole CW station for Tallahassee.

WTLF is licensed to Tallahassee and broadcasts a digital signal only on UHF channel 24; it was one of the first stations in the US to sign on as a digital-only station.

Most of their programming comes from The CW Plus.

WFXU is owned by New Age Media LLC, which also operates WTLH, the Fox station in Tallahassee. WTLF is owned by MPS Media, and managed by New Age Media.

History

When WFXU went on the air on June 15, 1998 WFXU was a satellite station of WTLH. WFXU acquired an affiliation with UPN in April 2002 and WTLF became a digital satellite of WFXU when it went on the air on May 7, 2003. WFXU and WTLF were affiliated with UPN until April 1, 2005 as the two Stations went to The WB, when UPN moved to a digital subchannel of WCTV. Prior to this, The WB was carried on a cable-only channel known by the fictitious call letters WBXT ("WB6") (these call letters currently belong to a low-power class A station in Tallahassee).

In September 2006, The WB and UPN merged to be The CW. It was announced on April 24, 2006 that WTLH-DT 49.2 would become Tallahassee's CW affiliate. Around August 2006 a graphic with the text "Coming This September" and the CW logo was placed on the bottom right of the screen indicating WFXU/WTLF as a CW affiliate. When the network premiered WFXU became the official affiliate along with WTLH-DT 49.2

The investment group New Age Media is also looking to purchase WTLH as part of a deal to buy eleven Pegasus-owned television stations. The group deal closed at the end of March 2007. [http://www.timesleader.com/mld/timesleader/15230943.htm]
