- Alexey Brodovitch
Alexey Brodovitch (also Brodovich; _ru. Алексей Бродович; 1898-1971) was a
Russia n-born photographer, designer and instructor who is most famous for his art direction of "Harper's Bazaar " from 1938 to 1958.After fleeing Russia in 1920, Brodovitch settled in
Paris . He came to the United States in 1930 and began his career at Harper's Bazaar in 1934. [http://www.aiga.org/content.cfm/medalist-alexeybrodovitch]Brodovitch edited three issues of "Portfolio" a short-lived, but landmark graphic design publication. The first two issues appeared in 1950. The third issue appeared in 1951.
