Silsand

Silsand is a village in the municipality of Lenvik, Norway with a population (2007) of 1,315

The Village were until the bridge replaced the ferry in 1972 consisting of nothing more that a few dozen houses. With the building of the Gisund Bridge and the change in demografics in the rural areas of Norway the population has grown rather rapidly since the early 80s. Most of the new inhabitants coming from other smaller villages in the Midt-Troms area.

Silsand is now considered a suburban area to Finnsnes.

Silsand has 3 schools: Småslettan skole (1.-4th grade), Silsand barneskole (5.-7th grade) and Silsand ungdomsskole (8.-10th grade).

Silsand is the home of the FK Senja football club. Fk Senja played in 3.Division from 2000 to 2007, until they finally made to get to the 2.Division after winning a game against Kirkenes IF. They worked hard for 7 years, and they got what the wanted.
