Eva Kaili

[http://www.enet.gr/online/dspphoto?id=123795|thumb|270px|Eva Kaili] Eva (Evdoxia) Kaili ( _el. Εύα Καϊλή), (born October 26, 1978 in Thessaloniki), is a Greek celebrity, socialite and politician as well as a former television news presenter.

She is part of a new wave of politicians who have been promoted through the "star system" and catapulted into the Greek political scene mainly because of their celebrity status and their standing within mass culture. Others, include Elena Rapti (New Democracy Party MP). This, of course, in not only common in Greece but internationally as well (Mara Carfagna in Italy, Arnold Schwarzenegger in the United States...).

In 1998, as an undergraduate architecture student at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki she took part as a candidate of PASOK in the local elections for the Municipality of Thessaloniki and became town councillor. During the 2004 Greek national elections, Kaili was a candidate for Member of Parliament in the first region of Thessalonika and ranked 6th within PASOK's candidates; however, she didn't become an MP.

She is an architect (however, she has never practiced architecture professionally). In 2005, she studied at the Workshop for Professional Journalism. Currently, she is enrolled at the University of Piraeus, studying international and European studies. Aside from her native language Greek, she speaks English, German and Italian.

From 2004 to 2007, she was employed by Mega Channel as news presenter on weekends. She got elected in 2007 as a member of the Greek Parliament, with the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK).You can find her at You tube and Face book.
