Delmee was nicknamed "Delmis" in his first year with the Men's National Team, after having missed a penalty stroke in the final of the 1994 Men's Hockey World Cup in Sydney, against Pakistan. He plays club hockey in Holland at HC Den Bosch, with whom he won the Dutch title twice: in 1998 and 2001. Delmee's nephew Sander van der Weide is also a Dutch field hockey international. In the summer of 2007 he left Den Bosch for Oranje Zwart.

Delmee carried the flag for The Netherlands at the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing, during the opening ceremony.
