- Ellery Bop
Ellery Bop were an 80's Rock/indie band with
Liverpool /Irish roots. The vocalist and lead guitarist was Jamie Farrell ex English Opium Eaters,
Echo and the Bunnymen and Mark Parry (later Thunderboots, Steppin’ Razor, Western Promise was the drummer. Toured infrequently but recorded several sessions for the BBC withJohn Peel [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/artists/e/ellerybop/ Ellery bop - Peel Sessions] ] andJanice Long . Produced a much more energetic sound than contemporary bands. Another band that seemed unable to capture the volume and energy of their live performances on record. A John Peel session recorded live at the London I.C.A. came closest to capturing the band at their best. The band claimed bands such as MC5, Stooges,Ramones , Heartbreakers andThe Clash as their influences, something heard more on later recordings although early tracks show a more rockabilly and punk influence.Discography
