Poison Takes a Hold/Introduction

Poison Takes a Hold/Introduction

This was the very first single by British gothic rock group Play Dead and the group's very first studio recording. At the time of this single, the band supposedly only had 6 to 7 songs written and had yet to be altered. This single features original guitarist "Re-Vox" and it received heavy airplay in Britain. After this single was released, Play Dead began to gather a small European following.

"Poison Takes A Hold" was recorded in December of 1980 and "Introduction" was recorded in April of 1981. The single was released in June of 1981. Both songs were recorded at the Hallmark W.1. studio. Both songs were re-released on "In the Beginning - The 1981 Singles" and on the 1992 re-release of "The First Flower" album.
