Barry Cole (born 1936,
Balham ,South London ) is a British poet.Apart from two years (1970-1972) as Northern Arts Fellow in Literature at the universities of Durham and Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and two years (1955-1957) in the RAF as a National Serviceman, he worked until 1995 as an editor at the
Central Office of Information , and is now a freelance editor and writer. He has published seven collections of poems and four novels. [see author's biographical note on back cover of "Inside Outside" (1997)] His poems appear in more than a dozen anthologies, includingPhilip Larkin 'sThe Oxford Book of Twentieth-Century English Verse andBritish Poetry since 1945 .Married, with three grown-up daughters, and four grandchildren, he and his wife Rita have lived for the past forty-seven years near
