Ronald Webster (born
2 March 1926 ) is a politician fromAnguilla . He served as the island territory's Chief Minister from10 February 1976 to1 February 1977 and again from May 1980 to12 March 1984 .Prior to serving as Chief Minister, Webster was designated "President" of Anguilla when the territory declared its "independence" from ST.Kitts & Nevis Government in 1967, Through the Anguillan Revolution, in which he lead.
As British troops arrived to quell the supposed "rebellion", ( Anguillians had forced the St. Kitts officials and police out of the island, due to mistreatment and misuse of funds directed to the island ) Ronald promptly disappeared. As told by a native, and neighbor of Ronald, "We saw the battleship docked far outside the harbor, and "Paratroopers" stationed outside the house on rooftops, and armored vehicles on the street, I ran through the bush behind the house and woke him, informing him that the British were coming. He flew from his bed to the bush, and disappeared for 17 days."
