Fadi Makki is advisor to the
Prime Minister of Lebanon on economy and trade. He was the Director General of the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade from 2002 to the end of 2005. Before returning to his native country Lebanon in 2002, he was the Advisor to the Qatari Ministry of Finance, Economy and Commerce where he advisedQatar on trade policy and theWorld Trade Organization (WTO), and organized theDoha round of the WTO meetings which began in November 2001.His academic background spans International trade and development, international law, public and business administration, with a PhD in International Trade from
Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, masters from theLondon School of Economics andHull University , BAs from the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese University Law School.He has over 10 years of extensive experience in trade policy and all aspects of WTO accession, public sector reform and private sector development. He has also well published on WTO, and trade liberalization and the Middle East economies.
