Mayfair Montgomery Publishing

Mayfair Montgomery Publishing (Mayfair Music) is a North American music publishing firm.

Located in the Toronto suburb of Markham, Ontario, Mayfair publishes the works of a number of Canadian composers some of whom are strong in the educational market. The Leila Fletcher Piano Series (by Leila Fletcher) and the Scale & Arpeggio books (for woodwind and brass instruments) by Daniel Theaker are two of Mayfair's more prominent composers.

Publishing house history

Established in 1979, Mayfair Music was started in Markham, Ontario, Canada by John Loweth. Originally a "pop music" publisher, the company's first major hit was "Music Box Dancer" by Frank Mills, with over 3 million copies of the sheet music having since been sold.

The 1980s saw Mayfair begin a strategic partnership with Berandol Music that lasted up to 1999. 1995 saw Daniel Theaker's line of Scales and Arpeggio books purchased and released in new editions by Mayfair. In 2001, Leila Fletcher's publishing company, Montgomery Music was purchased by, and merged with Mayfair Music. This small but significant merger has helped turn Mayfair into an important music publisher in the educational market.

The Spring of 2007 saw Mayfair Montgomery acquire the catalog of Waterloo Music.
