Karl Joseph Leiprecht (
September 11 ,1903 -October 29 ,1981 ) was theBishop of Rottenburg .Born in the town of Hauerz (now
Bad Wurzach ) in theAllgäu , Leiprecht studied philosophy and theology at theUniversity of Tübingen from 1923 to 1927. OnMarch 24 ,1928 , he was ordained a priest by BishopJohannes Baptista Sproll at the Rottenburg Cathedral. Over the next five years, he served as a vicar at Holy Cross Minster inSchwäbisch Gmünd and at St. George's Church inStuttgart .Leiprecht served as the city priest of
Rottweil from 1942 to 1947 before becomingvicar capitular at Rottenburg Cathedral.On October 7, 1948, he was namedTitular Bishop ofScyrus andAuxiliary Bishop of Rottenburg; he was consecrated bishop on November 30 by ArchbishopWendelin Rauch at Rottenburg Cathedral. The next year, Leiprecht was elected the Bishop of Rottenburg on June 21,Pius XII officially named him to the post on July 4, and he was enthroned on September 8.
