Basmath is a railway station on Kacheguda-Khandwa Meter Gauge Section of Hyderabad(HYB) Division of South Central Railway(SCR). After Divisional adjustments in 2003, which saw the bifurcation of Hyderabad Division, Basmath now comes under Nanded(NED) Division of SCR. The section between Purna and Hingoli has been converted from Meter Gauge to BG. However, the Hingloi-Akola section is closed for gauge conversion. The Akola-Khandwa section is still in Meter Gauge with MG trains running.
