Tectonic stratigraphy

Tectonic stratigraphy

Tectonic Stratigraphy is a branch of geology which uses stratigraphy to investigate past tectonic events. An example would be investigating sandstones to ascertain the timing of the uplift of the mountain range from which the sediments were derived. In certain instances tectonic stratigraphy is synonymous with sedimentary basin analysis.
