Samuel Wong (zh-c|黃大德) is a
Hong Kong -bornpianist . Wong received his musical education in the United States. During his undergraduate years at Harvard University, he served as the music director of theBach Society Orchestra in 1982-84. After receiving a Masters of Music in piano from thePeabody Conservatory of Music of theJohns Hopkins University , where he studied withLeon Fleisher , Wong has since performed, adjudicated and taught throughout the United States in festivals and workshops. In 1986, at the invitation of the People's Republic of China, he gave recitals and masterclasses throughout China and Hong Kong. In 1991, as a guest of the European Piano Teacher's Association, he performed recitals and gave classes in London, Cambridge, and Edinburgh. He has been praised for his "imagination, coloristic nuances, sonorous chordal playing and brilliantly executed runs", and his Chopin Etudes have been described as “exemplary”. Wong has been on the faculty of the International Institute for Young Musicians and in the fall of 1999, he was invited to perform and teach at the Fourth Bela Bartok International Piano Festival in Lima, Peru. Wong resides and teaches in Plano, Texas, and is the founder and co-director of the Texas Conservatory for Young Artists.External links
