Later that year, he played in the Asia Cup in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, for the opener, his experience in full ODIs wasn't very happy. He bagged ducks against India [ [http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65675.html Cricinfo Scorecard] :Bangladesh v India (1988-10-27). (retrieved on 2007-12-25). ] & Sri Lanka. To his credit, Liton bounced back from these setbacks and enjoyed a highly successful 1989-90. He scored 65 against Denmark at Dhaka in February 1990. He played in the 1990 ICC Trophy at the Netherlands. [ Hasan Babli. "Antorjartik Crickete Bangladesh". Khelar Bhuban Prakashani, Novermeber, 1994. ]

Though generally overlooked by the national selectors throughout the 90s, Liton continued on to to be a highly popular and highly successful batsman at domestic cricket.
