- Sulochana Brahaspati
Sulochana Brahaspati (born 1937 in
Allahabad ) is one of the noted performers ofHindustani classical music . She is a vocalist and an exponent of theRampur gharana . She learnt music from Pandit Bholanath Bhat and Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan of Rampur. Later she received intensive training from her guru, and later her husband, Acharya K.C.D.Brahaspati. A large number of his compositions –Khayal s,Thumri s,Tappa s andDadra s – are part of her portfolio.Her renderings are distinguished by the richness of her voice and the intricacies of her "tans". Among the honours she received the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 1984 and the
