The company states in its mission statement that it aims to make clean water accessible to as many people worldwide as possible, with an emphasis on sustainability.

Its products include slow sand filters, iron-removing filters, and roughing filters.

The company, which has its headquarters in Bellingham, WA, manufactures water treatment systems from individual home filters to municipal-sized filtration systems. It was established by founder and president Humphrey Blackburn in 2003 as a manufacturing arm of his consulting firm, [http://www.slowsandfilter.com Blackburn and Associates] , which has designed and developed patented slow sand filtration systems for use in rural areas worldwide for more than 10 years.
