Richard A. Bierschbach is a law professor at the
Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law inNew York City . He specializes in alternative sentencing,criminal law , andwhite-collar crime .Bierschbach attended the
University of Michigan , receiving hisBachelor of Arts in1994 , and hisjuris doctor from theUniversity of Michigan Law School in1997 .Bierschbach was a
law clerk for Judge A. Raymond Randolph of the DC Circuit and for JusticeSandra Day O'Connor of theSupreme Court of the United States . In addition, Bierschbach served as an attorney-advisor for the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel as well as working as a Bristow Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General.Bierschbach began his time at Cardozo in
2003 as avisiting professor but was hired on a permanent basis in2005 . He currently teaches criminal law to first-year students. Bierschbach is well liked by students, and is universally considered even-handed when dealing with controversial topics.
