- Mangowal West
Mangowal west ( منگوال غربی ) is a place located 22 km west of
Gujrat District in Punjab province,Pakistan , it has a population is about 15,000.Mangowal is famous for its top quality
basmati rice production. Generally its people are hard working and now working all over the world like in Europe, USA, and the Middle East. Mangowal is a place of historical nature. Famous saint "ShahSharif " came here in 17th century.Other famous people from Mongowal are Justice Kakos, Ch. Aitezaz Ahsan (renowned Lawyer and politician), and Mr. Bahawal Buksh (old parliamentarian of 20th century).
Historically, this village and the surrounding villages, Golayki, Dinga, Chakrian, Ladha, Sadha, Sattoki, Ishra etc. were named after an influential
Sikh -Sardar family.The preaching Muslim Sufi and saint Syed Hafez AbdulRahim shah (marhoom)established a missionary centre and library and started proselytising to the people of the region about religion of Islam, due to this people started converting to Islam. His followers and descendants were appointed in different towns and cities such as, Moin ud Din Pur (Momdi Pur), Madina Sayyedan, Kullaywal, Saroki, in the east and all the way to Mianagondal, Bar Moosa, Mandi Bahawaldin in the west, to convey the message of Islam and the whole region started converting to Islam.His tomb (mezar) is situated in the Shahani Khanga.
