Henrik Hellstenius

Henrik Hellstenius (born April 28, 1963) is a Norwegian composer and musicologist.

Born in Bærum, Norway, Hellstenius studied musicology at the University of Oslo, studied composition with Lasse Thoresen at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, studied in 1992-1993 with Gérard Grisey at the Conservatoire National Superieur d'Art Dramatique in Paris, studied computer-supported composition at IRCAM.

Teaches composition and music theory at the Norwegian State Academy of Music.

* "By the Voice a Faint Light is Shed" for solo violin and ensemble, first performed in 2001 at the Ultima Festival in Oslo
* "Five Imprints of Time I" for saxophone quartet
* "Five Imprints of Time II" for percussion trio
* "Five Imprints of Time III" for harpsichord
* "Fragment Nos. 1-4"
* "Framing time"
* "Sera", opera, libretto by Axel Hellstenius (the composer's brother), first performed on September 8, 1999 at the Ultima Festival in Oslo
* "Theatre of Sleep" for orchestra
