- Arms of Kismet
Arms of Kismet is an American alternative pop group led by singer-songwriter
Mark Doyon . Their debut album, "Eponymous", was released in 2004, and its follow-up, "Cutting Room Rug", appeared in 2005. Both records were produced by Doyon and mastered byJon Astley , a producer forPete Townshend ,George Harrison andTori Amos . Arms of Kismet blends influences and styles ranging from British rock, country and psychedelia to punk and folk music.Doyon spent the 1990s in Washington, D.C.-based Wampeters, and later exchanged that band's roots rock for a refracted pop "The Daily Vault" called "witty, idiosyncratic indie-rock that is to a band like Maroon 5 what a film like "Sideways" is to one like "Miss Congeniality 2"." Arms of Kismet toured in 2004-05, and are at work on a new album.
Doyon published a collection of short stories, "
Bonneville Stories ", in 2001. His second book, "Slingshot to Obscurity", a wry comment on navigating the independent music scene, will reportedly be published in 2008.Discography
