Swock

Swock

Swock is a contraction of S&W (the abbreviation for American arms manufacturer Smith & Wesson) and Glock (the Austrian arms manufacturer), and refers specifically to a pistol manufactured by S&W starting in the 1990s called the "Sigma". The Sigma, a polymer-framed pistol introduced after the Glock line of polymer-framed pistols, had so many similarities to the Glock when it was first brought to market that a number of their parts would reportedly interchange. Glock brought suit against S&W for patent infringement, which was ultimately settled for an undisclosed amount. This then lead to the generation of the slang term "Swock" rather than referring to the pistol by its actual product name. [http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_175_29/ai_n13466589]
