Mie Prefecture ,Japan .As of 2008, the city has an estimated
population of 140,798 and a density of 1,030 persons per km². The total area is 136.61 km². The city was founded onApril 1 ,1937 , and the city merged two towns in Kuwana District of Nagashima and Tado onDecember 6 ,2004 .A large housing estate called Ōyamada (大山田) is west of Kuwana. Many people living there go to offices by either bus, train or car.
Kuwana-juku was the forty-second station on the Tōkaidō during theEdo period . Some travelers along the road would take ships across the innerIse Bay fromMiya-juku (located in present-dayNagoya nearAtsuta Shrine ) to Kuwana, which reputably made the journey more enjoyable.External links
