- EOSDIS
EOSDIS is the Earth Observing System Data Information System. It consists of several different components to collect, store , retrieve and process information which is captured from a number of different
satellite s currently orbitingEarth .Currently EOSDIS is managing extraordinarily large amounts of
data . Here is a list of all of the satellites EOSDIS currently serves and an estimate of the amount of data coming in daily for each (if available):* EOS Missions
**Landsat 7 - 7GB/Day
** Terra - 194GB/Day
**QuickSCAT
**ACRIMSAT
* Pre-EOS Missions
**UARS
**SeaWIFS
**TOMS-EP
**TOMSEX/Posiedon
**TRMM
* All Earth Science legacy dataThe total amount of
Earth science data held byNASA is about 284Terabyte s. The EOSDIS system has nearly doubled the amount of science data whichNASA holds in the past few years.All of the Earth science data is available to the public.
