1967 , and the band was known for their ties to avant-garde theater groups (as typified byShuji Terayama 's troupe) and leftist political groups, as well as for their feedback-drenched live shows and use of strobe lights and mirror balls onstage, which earned them comparisons to theVelvet Underground . Most of their albums that have been released are in very limited editions. The band's style is typified by simple, repeated bass lines and shrieking guitar feedback.
In
1970 , the original bass playerMoriaki Wakabayashi was involved in the hijacking ofJapan Airlines Flight 351 orchestrated by theJapanese Red Army . Singer Takashi Mizutani was allegedly offered a role in the hijacking but turned it down.elect Discography

Live 1972 (CD, Over Level, 2007) "Second Rallizes bootleg on this label, the most 'overground' of all Rallizes affiliated labels. 'Legit' or 'authorized' material from this mythical group is seen about as frequently as Loch Ness himself. There are only two words printed anywhere on this CD, besides the group's name: 'Live' and '1972'. Say no more."--Forced Exposure. "Live material from 1972. This band was a major inspiration to groups like High Rise, Kousokuya, Acid Mothers Temple and Keiji Haino. The absolute peak of Japanese psychedelia." Official description: "Early hand-held audience recordings (dig those tape flips!) from 1972. Frequently compared in sound and spirit to the Velvets and The Dead, for this slogged-out set, Hawkwind may be more appropriate. Play it loud enough and you'll think you are there, holding the mic."--Over Level.
