- EPCC
EPCC (formerly the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre), is a unit within the
University of Edinburgh providing a focus for the university's activities inhigh-performance computing andcomputational science . The centre provides services and expertise in these fields for both academic and industrial applications. EPCC was established in 1990, following on from the earlierEdinburgh Concurrent Supercomputer Project . Since 2002, EPCC has been part of the university's School of Physics.EPCC has hosted a variety of
supercomputers over the years, including severalMeiko Computing Surface s, aThinking Machines CM-200Connection Machine , and a number ofCray systems including aCray T3D and T3E. EPCC's current facilities include anIBM Blue Gene/L system and theHECToR Cray XT5h service.The centre's activities include education, training, academic research, commercial software development and project management.
As of 2008 , EPCC has over 75 full-time staff.External links
