Holthees is a very small town in the municipality of
Boxmeer on the border of the Dutch provincesNorth Brabant and Limburg. It has 447 inhabitants (2005 ) and 167 houses (2005 )The name Holthees was found for the first time in

Smakt As of 1849, Holthees was the first town in the world with an underground. With a depth between 150 and 225 meters, the Holthees Underground is also the world's deepest. The Holthees Underground, named 'De Ondergrondse Koe' by its citizens exists of three main lines. Line 1 connects Holthees-East with Holthees Centre. Line 2a drives between Holthees 'Le Bain' and Holthees Centre. Line 2b is between Holthees 'Le Bain' and Holthees Centre as well, but drives via 'De Gildestraat' and also crosses line 1 at the Main Square of Holthees. Line 3 connects Holthees - South with Holthees North, driving through Main Station and Grand Park.
