Barney Bunch

The Barney Bunch are a group of internet movie makers using either flash or windows media maker to make movies of various Barney Bunch characters: Barney the Dinosaur, Drew Pickles, Dick the Clown, Ronald McDonald (better known as The Penis Clown). Movies are usually anywhere from 10 seconds to up to 10 minutes in length, using still images, text-to-speech programs, and occasionally crude animations.

History

According to the newgrounds forum, the inception of the Barney Bunch started towards the middle of 2005 [http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/search/topic/Barney+Bunch+august/7] . However, many on the newgrounds portal consider Barney Bunch movies spam and not humorous, and have since banned terms like 'bb' and 'Barney' from their search engine. [ibid] Currently, movies are submitted to youtube.

Style

Barney Bunch movies are made using either flash or windows movie maker. Creators of Barney Bunch movies take a single still picture of various characters who are in the Barney Bunch "canon" and then use a text to speech program to give the picture a voice, either Speakonia, the program of choice for Barney Bunch creators, or AT&T text to speech. The former is the most widely used and accepted of the text to speech programs for making Barney Bunch movies. The point is to make various characters say crass things, often homosexual in nature and incorporating scatological elements (i.e., Drew Pickles having a poop and cum orgy with Barney and Ronald McDonald).

Speakonia is the prefered text-to-speech software, as the recurring and classic "censored gay orgy track" is done using the speakonia program by repeatedly typing "hahahahahaha..." This cannot be done using another text-to-speech programs to date.

It is debatable as to who the original "canonized" Barney Bunch characters are, as many other cartoon characters have been added and included in the Barney Bunch, and most, if not all the Barney Bunch movies have been removed from their original source, [http://www.newgrounds.com Newgrounds] .

Barney

The founder of the Barney Bunch. Barney has made millions, billions, perhaps even gazillions of dollars off his kids show, gay pornos, gay prostitution, and his new gay porn shop.

Drew Pickles

Co-founder of the Barney Bunch. Considered by many to be the gayest and sexiest man alive. His penis is rumored to being anywhere from 5 miles to 300 miles long...perhaps even longer. Chris Garcia

The creation of MrBacon666, he used the style of Barney Bunch movies towards his high school nemesis, Chris Garcia. While including the homosexual and scatological satire of Barney Bunch, he also mentions Chris Garcia's obesity and the fact his father owns, "like 10 McDonald's." Many characters have appeared once or a couple times on various Barney Bunch movies, including: Arthur Reed, Ned Flanders, George Bush, and other children's cartoon characters.

Criticism

Many find Barney Bunch movies stupid and their creators as having no lives. The humor is considered not only childish, but utterly appalling. One individual posted a comment on youtube, "you need reporting mate if you think that is funny you are pretty sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my three year old daughter has just heard a bit of that you are SICK" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB3rTkrXSVg] . Barney Bunch videos have often been blammed from Newgrounds and no longer posted there, and are currently often flagged on Youtube. Some Barney Bunch makers have had their videos removed, their accounts suspended, or in some cases even removed.

Opposition

Along with criticism, there have been attempts of some to create mock feuds with the Barney Bunch, most notably the Garfield Gang. One text to speech movie maker created the short lived one-act Grover's Gay Gang.
