Rex Beisel

Rex Beisel

Rex Beisel (24 October, 1893 – February 1972) was an aeronautical engineer who led the design of the Vought F4U Corsair and won the Wright Brothers Medal in 1934 for work related to the cooling of radial aircraft engines. Beisel grew up in Cumberland, Washington and graduated from the University of Washington. He worked for numerous aircraft companies, including Curtiss, Vought, and United Aircraft Corporation, until his retirement in 1949.
