Neal Ganslaw

Neal Ganslaw (born 1972) is the founder and president of the punk website Punk Music Community (Punkmusic.com). He is also a news writer for the website, founded in 1997, that reports on musical news, reviews, media and shows.

Neal grew up near Hartford, Connecticut. Ganslaw's father was a successful chemist who started his own adhesives manufacturing factory, SCAPA tapes. He is the great grandson of David Schafer, one of the founders of AEPi, America's first Jewish fraternity which started at NYU in the first decades of the twentieth century.

Ganslaw attended New York University in 1990 and graduated in 1994 with a degree in Journalism. At NYU, he met his wife Jana. Together they have a daughter named Haley. After their marriage, Neal converted to Christianity.

During the 1990s, Ganslaw's music websites were a financial success, and set the standard for internet music sites. However, after the internet bubble burst at the end of the 90s, his companies Fastmusic and Punkmusic never fully recovered. With the help of dedicated volunteers, he has continued to run the websites and the record label, which have continued to be inspiration to 1000s of Punkmusic fans throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
