11 February 1969 in Ibadan, Oyo StateNigeria ) is an English former professional football player who played for a variety of clubs and has also represented England at senior level. He was a part of the Crystal Palace team which reached the FA Cup Final in 1990. A severe knee injury sustained againstLeeds United in 1991 put him out for nearly a year, and he was never the same player again.As a teenager, he lived in
Westerham ,Kent and was a student at The Wildernesse School inSevenoaks , where he excelled at football. He now lives in Woldingham, Surrey and works as a matchday correspondent onSky Sports .In 2005, John was voted into Palace's Centenary XI. He is affectionately known as "Salad" at Crystal Palace.
