List of minor characters in Saved by the Bell

Below is a list of minor characters from the TV show "Saved by the Bell", many of whom only appeared in one or two episodes.

Lieutenant Chet Adams

Played by Cylk Cozart, Lieutenant Chet Adams appeared in season two during the episode "Zack's War" as the head of Bayside's California Cadet Corps program. Lisa shows an infatuation towards Lt. Adams and joins the program in an attempt to gain his favor. At the beginning of their training, Adams tells Zack he can divide the cadets into teams, which prompts Zack to clump together all the "nerds" into one team and all the "jocks" onto another team, thinking all the jocks will be on his team. Adams replies by saying, "You get to pick the teams, but I get to pick the captains" and puts the nerds on Zack's team and the jocks on Slater's team. Jessie's feminist attitude clashes with Adams' military style, as she asks him to revise his motto "separating the men from the boys" to "separating the persons from the persons."

Alan

Alan was one of a few recurring "nerd" characters that appeared throughout the series. His first appearance was in the first season as a test subject in which Zack and Screech brainwashed a pretty girl into going out with him as a test, and used its succesful results to brainwash Kelly and Lisa into going out with them. Alan appeared in the second season where he was shown on the prom committee in charge of the food, lising a variety of cakes, pies and ice cream desserts he wanted served at the dance. Later in the episode when Zack gives Kelly a piece of cake from the dance he said he had to wrestle it away from Alan but couldn't save any of the frosting. Alan later joined the student ROTC when Zack lied and said the new U.S. Army served cake at every meal, but was an incompetent cadet.

Charlie "Craterface" Coburn

Charlie was nicknamed "Craterface" because his face apparently was covered with acne (but not shown that way in any episodes). He was used by Zack to demonstrate a miracle blemish cream that Screech had accidentally invented in Chemistry class. As he was famous around Bayside for his extraordinary acne, he was a shining endorsement for the cream when it completely cleared up his face; so much so, that the school didn't believe it was really him. So Charlie performed his trademark laugh as proof it was really him.

Christy Barnes

Christy Barnes was a female wrestler who joined the team despite much protest from Coach Sanski. She and Zack dated, and Zack was embarrassed when Christy beat up a valley punk who was trying to strangle Zack. Although Christie and Slater’s relationship was purely wrestling-related, Jessie ended up getting jealous as the two spent time together in the gym. When Jessie insulted Christy but realized she was wrong about who the female wrestler liked, she joined forces with Zack to convince Christy to rejoin the team, and Zack resumed dating her. Christy did not appear in any future episodes.

Becky the Duck

Becky the Duck, named after Mr. Belding's wife, was a duck that Zack adopted after she had been hurt by a baseball which sailed into her pond behind the school. Having bonded with her over the weekend, Zack returned her to her natural habitat in the pond, only to have her die as a result after being submerged in an oil spill from the reserves found under the school. Zack then opposed the oil-drilling project and convinced the school to turn down an oil company's plans to continue it.

Mrs. (Becky) Belding

Becky Belding, Mr. Belding’s wife (played by Louan Gideon), was featured in the episode “The Earthquake”, in which she, Zack and Tori get stuck in an elevator after a minor earthquake. During the time in the elevator she goes into labor and gives birth to the Beldings' son with the help of Zack, who becomes the baby's namesake.

Penny Belding

Richard Belding's niece. She was blonde and bubbly, but no one wanted to date her as she was related to the Principal.

During Zack's sophomore year at Bayside, he earned himself a Saturday School detention. In order to be released from serving time and to be able to attend Kelly's upcoming party, he signed a treaty with Mr. Belding agreeing to take Penny out on a date on Friday in lieu of serving his sentence. After making this agreement, Kelly informed Zack that her birthday party would also be that Friday, since the Max was booked on Saturday. In order to make Kelly's party, Zack trained Screech to imitate him, so that he could take Penny out on the date instead; this worked out well because Penny was attracted to Screech, but she angered Kelly when she said that she was hot for "Zack", thinking that was who Screech was.

Rod Belding

Rod Belding was Mr. Belding’s brother, and stepped in as a substitute teacher during junior year. He initially made a hip impression on the students because of his happy-go-lucky attitude, world-weary demeanor, and tales of defying authority and schoolwork. His character is patterned after Andrew Chupalio, a modern day Jeff Spicoli clone who ripped tubes and hung in the velvet room. Mr. Belding was overshadowed by his brother’s connection with the students, which was evident in a minor confrontation they had when Mr. Belding tells his brother he is not to be teaching the kids whitewater rafting on official class time. However, Rod arranged to take the students on a whitewater rafting trip for their annual class trip (ruining Mr. Belding's plans to visit Yosemite Park), and then skipped out to meet a stewardess named Inga. Mr. Belding is furious that Rod would abandon his commitment to the students and orders him never to come back to Bayside saying, "Get out of my school". Mr. Belding then lies to the students that his brother is ill, but the students ask him to chaperone the whitewater rafting and he happily agrees to do so. Zack, who was aware of the incident, confided in Mr. Belding that “we got the better Belding”.

Little Zack Belding

Little Zack was Mr. Belding's son born in an elevator, with Zack (who he was named after) and Tori. Little Zack subsequently appeared in two episodes of The New Class. On his second appearance he was played by Bobby Edner.

Frank and Laura Benton

Frank and Laura Benton were a homeless father and daughter, respectively, who caught the eye of Zack and the gang around Christmas time. Laura, who worked in a department store with Kelly, seemed to be a tentative love interest for Zack during the two-part episode; she was very shy around Zack about her poverty stricken life. Zack, Slater and Screech got Frank to a hospital when he passed out at the mall from hunger, and then found out he was Laura's father. Laura's boss accused her of stealing a suit jacket that Kelly set aside to buy so Frank would have an outfit he could wear to job interviews. Later the boss apologized. Eventually the Morris family took the Bentons in until they could “get back on their feet”.

Violet Ann Bickerstaff

Violet (played by Tori Spelling) was a nerdy character who appeared in three episodes during the sophomore year. She was originally dating Maxwell Nerdstrom, but she dumped him in favor of Screech, as Maxwell had treated her poorly. In her first appearance, she knocked over Screech's mother's statue of Elvis Presley. This lead to a moneymaking scheme by the gang to get $250 for a new statue. Violet also came from an upper class family who disapproved of her relationship with Screech mainly due to the fact he was from a lower class, despite the fact he and Violet shared many common interests. In another episode, Violet is shown to have a beautiful singing voice, but is too shy to join Bayside's abysmal school choir until Screech supports her. She then quits the choir after Screech embarrasses her at a disastrous dinner with her folks, but his later public support for her convinces the Bickerstaffs that he is a good guy, and they say they no longer object to him dating their daughter.

Helen Billingham

Helen Billingham was a representative of Stansbury University who came to Bayside searching for potential students. When she found out about Jessie’s merely moderate score on the SATs, Helen politely advised her to look for another college. However, after Zack hires James the Actor to portray a Harvard rep and court Jessie in front of Billingham, Helen re-considers accepting Jessie. Jessie declines, salvaging her dignity and saying it's the college's loss; her friends then add they won't attend Stansbury either.

Billy

Billy was a child who hit on Kelly at the beach club. Although he seemed to possess a mature, if slightly sleazy, demeanor (Kelly smilingly said he was "the next Zack Morris") Kelly told him that she couldn’t date him because he was just a little boy. He was crushed at the rejection, and Kelly later apologized to him.

Heather Brooks

Heather was a brief love interest of Zach's in the "S.A.T." episode. Zach sat behind her while taking the test and invited her over to study when she showed interest in him after he scored 1502 on his S.A.T.'s, although things went downhill for Zack when she invited her boyfriend Bob over for some study help too. She was played by Christine Taylor.

Bryan Watkins

Bryan Watkins was an African-American teenager who was one of Bayside’s more intellectual students and a Student Council member. Lisa won him at the date auction, but he was repulsed by her love of fashion and lack of concentration in classical studies and literature. Although Lisa put on an intelligent air in order to impress Bryan, she eventually got fed up with his snobby behavior and habit of putting down her friends and told him off.

Dan Clegg

One half of the Clegg cousins, Along with his cousin Stan, they were the two Valley students responsible for the Bayside-Valley prank war in the episode "Save That Tiger".

Mrs. Culpepper

Mrs. Culpepper was the school’s art teacher and made appearances in both junior year and the paradoxal Tori season during senior year. She was always involved in comical situations in which she bumped into lockers and mistook inanimate objects for living things due to her bad eyesight. At one point she even accidentally made Mr. Belding think she was in love with him, which completely flustered her.

Cynthia

Cynthia, played by Denise Richards (who was not credited), was Slater's secret admirer while he worked at the Malibu Sands Beach Resort, eventually revealing herself by pretending to drown. Although she and Slater seemed to be a couple at the end of the Malibu Sands series, and Slater even informs the gang that Cynthia is coming to Bayside the coming school year, she never appears on the show.

Darren

Darren was a boy that Lisa invited to the Senior Kickoff Party, not realizing he was a freshman. While Lisa initially backed out of interaction with Darren, she eventually realized he was a good person and relented. One of the few African-Americans of note at Bayside, he is never seen again.

Johnny Dakota

Johnny Dakota was an actor who chose Bayside as the site for filming his anti-drug commercial. He was played by Eddie Garcia, who was one of the stars of another NBC comedy series called "Guys Next Door" and was dating Tiffani Amber Theissen at the time. Zack thinks this is a great idea, as in typical Zack fashion to benefit himself, he sees this as a chance for stylish parties and to get close to Hollywood babes. Johnny Dakota sees much of himself in Zack, and mentioned to him that, when he was Zack's age, he leased his high school parking lot to a Chevrolet dealer on the weekends. Trouble had started for the group when discarded marijuana cigarettes were found in the boy's room, and they cannot find out who did it, but Johnny says a few bad apples does not make the school bad. However the gang found that he himself was a pot user. After being shunned by the gang as a result of his habit, Johnny left Bayside without filming his commercial. The gang then filmed at anti-drug PSA with the help of Brandon Tartikoff.

Danielle

Danielle is a girl that Zack dated for one episode (Fake I.D.'s). Zack met Danielle at the Max after she got a flat tire. She was attempting to use the occupied pay phone, so Zack allowed her to use his cell phone. He then changed the flat tire after the tow truck company said it would take an hour. Danielle was a student at USC, so Zack lied and told her he was also a Trojan. He continued to lie telling her that he was a Photojournalism major, and the reason that she never saw him on campus was because he was always in the dark room working on a project.

Zack and Danielle went on a few dates to The Attic, and 18+ dance club. Being only 16, Screech made the three guys fake I.D.'s (hence the episode title) and they went there a few times (catching Kelly's new boyfriend Jeff kissing another girl in the process), before Zack's mom found out about it and brought them all home.

Mr. Dewey

Mr. Dewey (Patrick T. O'Brien) was a math teacher who also oversaw detention. He represented the quintessential down-on-his-luck, more-bored-than-the-kids depressed teacher. He spoke in a monotonous voice, was sarcastic and also once competed on American Gladiators. He was also Bayside's vice-principal. Mr. Dewey also appeared in the New Class.

Gem Diamond

Gem Diamond was a con artist who, in senior year, sold Zack fake class rings which turned the wearer's finger green. Desperate to replace the bunk rings with the genuine article, Zack and Slater made a plan in which Screech threatened Gem with karate unless he replaced the rings. Gem conceded, and the student body was satisfied with their new jewelry. He was last seen running out of the Max, being driven away by his mother in an attempt to escape from Screech's moves. Diamond later appeared on "California Dreams" as a used car salesman who tricked Samantha Woo into buying a lemon.

Brian Fate

Brian Fate was a British record producer who picked up Zack Attack and made them famous in the episode “Rockumentary.” Although he had confidence in the band and took them to the top, he could not stop the inevitable breakup that occurred as a result of Mindy, the band’s publicist. Since the entire episode was just a dream he probably never existed in the "real world" of the show.

Ginger

Ginger was an airheaded blonde who appeared in the later episodes, portrayed by a sometimes-credited Bridgette Wilson who is married to Pete Sampras. She dated Zack a few times but annoyed him because she had little to say beyond asking him if she had lipstick on her teeth.

Graham

Graham was a student who appeared during junior year. While he was never seen before or after the "Cut Day" episode, both Jessie and Zack seemed to have at least basic knowledge of who he is. He has progressive views that dovetailed with Jessie's, earning her attention when he pointed out that the U.S. has never had a female President while other countries have (he mentions Indira Ghandi and Golda Meir). During the Junior Cut Day, Jessie and Graham stayed behind in school to protest the delivery of a package of Styrofoam cups. It was Graham’s presence, and the fact that Slater saw her having fun hanging out with him, that led Jessie and Slater to consider dating other people.

Mr. Heimlich

Mr. Heimlich appeared in one episode ("Earthquake!") as the physics teacher. Since the episode revolved primarily around the Mrs. Belding's baby and the earthquake, he did not have a very large part.

Chief Henry

Chief Henry was a California Indian with whom Zack bonded during his family history project. Zack initially tried to skip the project because he had a big basketball game coming up, and later gave an insulting presenation that led the teacher to refer him to the Chief. While they quickly became good friends, Henry died suddenly, with Zack lamenting that they had hardly had time to get to know each other. Later, Henry's ghost appeared to Zack, giving him a gift and encouraging him to run at the school track meet. He was portrayed by Dehl Berti.

Jeff Hunter

Jeff Hunter (played by Patrick Muldoon) had a brief tenure as the Max’s manager who liked Kelly Kapowski. As a result, Zack and Kelly broke up, allowing Jeff and Kelly to begin a relationship. Unfortunately, very soon afterwards Jeff’s infidelity was revealed when he was seen dancing with and kissing a girl at an over-18 club known as The Attic. Kelly broke up with him as a result. He most likely quit his job afterwards, as he is never seen again.

Jennifer

Jennifer (played by Stephanie Furst) appeared during senior year and revealed herself to be Slater’s ex-girlfriend from his days as an army brat. Zack first dated her at Slater's behest (Slater didn't want Jessie to know he was still attracted to Jennifer), but Jennifer found out Slater's ruse from Screech and danced closely with Zack at the Max, leading Slater to get angry and later to call Jennifer "his gilfriend". Jessie stormed away in a rage before Kelly told her she had to let Slater go and see if there was anything to hold onto. While Jessie sadly allowed Slater the chance to date his ex to see if the flame was still there, it turned out that the two (Slater and Jennifer) were now incompatible: time had changed them both. She then asked Zack out and he said he'd love to go out with her. She was never seen again.

Nurse Jennifer

Nurse Jennifer (played by Nancy Valen) was a school nurse that showed up during sophomore year to replace Nurse “Blind-as-a-bat” Butcher. Zack decided to scrap his plans for a steady relationship with Kelly in order to pursue a romance with Jennifer. However, Jennifer was aware of the plot and managed to frighten Zack away by coming on to him and saying that she needed to escape her violent husband who is a professional wrestler (which may or may not have been true). Kelly later rejected Zack’s plea for another chance.

Joanna Peterson

In the episode entitled "The Fight" Joanna, a transfer student in senior year, became the object of affection for both Zack and Slater, resulting in a strife that culminated in a physical fight in which Zack and Slater duked it out for her affection. Surprisingly, in the fight scene, Zack is able to contend with Slater and this was regarded as unrealistic in the eyes of fans and critics alike, mostly because Mario Lopez was a lot bigger and stronger at the time than Mark-Paul Gosselaar. Joanna was so disgusted with the boys’ actions that she refused to have anything to do with either of them and was never seen again.

Billy Kapowski

Billy Kapowski was Kelly’s baby brother, whom she placed in the care of her friends in the episode “The Babysitters” so that she could have her cheerleading picture taken for the school yearbook. Zack was often left alone with Billy as the others made excuses or had other commitments to attend to. Because of this, Billy and Zack bonded quickly to the point where Zack distrusted anyone but himself to care for the baby. He was forced however to allow Jessie and Lisa to look after him in their Home Economics/Parenthood class. They lost track of Billy when Screech went to fetch Billy for Zack but mistook a doll for the baby. The gang eventually found him in Mr. Belding’s office and at the end of the episode he spoke his first word: “Zack.”

Nicki Kapowski

Nicki Kapowski was Kelly’s little sister who became convinced that Zack was in love with her by way of Zack mixing up her phone line for Kelly's while running the Teen Line. Although she didn’t seem to be old enough to attend high school, she nonetheless sporadically showed up to visit Zack. After trying various lies to change her mind about him, (such as giving her "anonymous" bogus advice via the Teen Line, dressing up like a geek, and showing her bugs) she was crushed when Zack finally confessed that he wasn’t interested in her, but was in love with Kelly. She insulted Zack for trying to scare her off instead of having the courage to tell a girl how he really felt.

Kevin the Robot

Kevin the Robot was a creation of Screech’s with artificial intelligence. He lived in Screech’s room and was usually dishing out advice and witty remarks.

His appearances included him as Screech's assistant when Screech was doing a magic show; and as Assistant hall monitor when Screech was nominated for the post by his fellow classmates, to make up for forgetting Screech's birthday.

The robot only appeared during Season 1 and 2.

Kevin was operated and voiced by Mike Lavelle.

Leslie

Leslie was the aerobics instructor as well as Jessie's future step-mom in the Palm Springs episodes. Although Zack makes a pass at her in the beginning of the episode, the gang later finds out Leslie is marrying Jessie's dad. Jessie refers to her future step-mom as an "aerobics bimbo", insults and lies to her, and asks her dad flat-out to not marry her. Her father firmly sayd he loves Leslie and is marrying her, period. Jessie then refuses to attend the wedding. At the end of the episode, however, Zack convinces Jessie to do the right thing and they arrive (though slightly late) to the wedding on a golf cart, where Jessie apologizes and Leslie forgives her.

Linda

Linda plays a very brief (less than 45 seconds) role in the "Rockumentary" episode. After the band splits up and each member goes their separate way, Slater has a race car accident leading to the band meeting again. Screech shows up (after seeking wisdom from the high geek) to the hospital with a cheerleader, Linda. She takes regular sentences and makes cheers from them, leading eventually to Lisa threatening her, after which she leaves the room, and our lives.

Louise

Louise was a girl with blonde hair in pigtails and horn-rimmed glasses. She was sometimes shown as a friend of Screech's, and had enrolled in the Army ROTC program at Bayside after Zack convinced her that in the US Army men outnumber women. She is placed on Zack's "nerd team" in a physical competition to compete against Slater's better qualified team. Zack learns a lesson about leadership when he must encourage his team to realize their potential, which included telling Louise she could climb a rope.

Louise returned in another episode about the "Teen Line", where she confided she had feelings for the jock "Moose", whose feelings were mutual, but she worried about the mismatched relationship. She also emerged when Zack, wounded that everyone including his friends thought he was a screw-up whom the school would be ecstatic to be rid of after graduation, went out with her in order to influence the nerds to vote for his new school song.

Mancuso

Mancuso was an unfortunate teenager who angered Slater after he watched Zack changing the diaper of Kelly’s baby brother Billy. While Mancuso’s harmless observation was no more than simple curiosity, he was punished by having a dirty baby diaper thrown in his locker.

Mancuso also appeared in "The Prom" episode and is scolded by Mr. Belding for dancing too close to his date, Nardino.

Margo Mason

Margo Mason was an extra seemingly throughout the entire series of the show, always appearing in the background and with no actress bill in the credits. She was a heavyset girl with black-frame glasses. The only time she was identified by name was at the end of the series, when she was greeted by Mr. Belding at graduation.

Melissa

Melissa was a girl Zack met in senior year through the school’s “Teen Line” (Yes, another "Teen Line"), an idea proposed by Tori in which the students accepted calls and walk-ins from other teenagers in order to discuss and help solve problems with them. While the rules expressly forbid personal interaction between caller and callee, Zack managed to hook a date with Melissa, who turned out to be paralyzed from the waist down. After a series of awkward occurrences in which Zack continuously highlighted Melissa’s handicap, ending with an announcement to the entire student body that Melissa be honored for her defect, she harshly corrected him for his fawning over her. After a sincere apology they became friends again.

Milton

Milton was a fat nerd who only appeared in a few episodes. For the class trip, he wanted to go to the Hershey's Chocolate Factory. When he suggested this, Zack reacted with disgust, poking Milton's belly which made it jiggle as he chortled.

Mindy

Mindy was the publicist for Zack Attack. She created a division in the band and eventually convinced Zack to leave the group. Although she made Zack more famous than he had ever been within the confines of Zack Attack, he was unhappy with the new “Male Madonna” image that she had placed upon him, and he left both Mindy and his new career to be with his old friends. Like Brian Fate, this was all a dream, so she may have never existed in reality.

Molly

Molly was an attractive blonde girl whom Screech had an interest in when he was trying to get over Lisa. She had mutual feelings for Screech, but also had a macho, possessive boyfriend named Butch, with whom she did not have the courage to break up. Screech takes Zack's advice to enroll in the Army ROTC program to give himself a more macho image. Later, he finds himself part of Zack's nerd team, and he wins the tie-breaking event, the "super obstacle course," when Molly shows up. She convinces Screech to give it his all in a head-to-head competition with Butch. Butch is humiliated when Screech beats him at his own game, prompting Molly to dump him and accept Screech's offer of a date. She, however, is never seen again.

Moose

Played by Mark Clayman, Moose was a stereotypical dumb jock (all brawn, no brains). Most of his lines were simple one-liners that helped show off his lack of intelligence. He later dated a nerdy girl, Louise. The same actor played the character Stan Clegg (a Valley student) in the episode "Save That Tiger."

Melvin Nerdly

Melvin Nerdly was the boy that Zack ordered Screech to send over to Kelly’s to keep her busy while he pursued Nurse Jennifer. Screech assured Zack that Nerdly was “kind of a geek”, which was exactly what Zack had hoped for. However, upon showing up at Kelly’s house to try to win her back, he found that Nerdly was in fact a brown-haired hunk. When Zach is flabbergasted that Melvin is on the chess team (which had always portrayed chess players as nerds), Melvin replies he is indeed a chess player, as well as a member of the football and hockey teams, and even modeled a little. Nerdly had taught Kelly chess and was slated to teach Kelly lambada, but he was not mentioned after his one appearance.

Maxwell Nerdstrom

Nerdstrom (played by Jeffrey Asch) was a rich nerd who made a few appearances during sophomore year and once during senior year. He was Violet Bickerstaff’s boyfriend and treated her rather poorly, although he did buy her a gold-plated pocket protector. His poor treatment of her was one of the factors in her becoming Screech’s girlfriend. While most of the nerds comported themselves with a bumbling dignity at most, Nerdstrom took it to the next level, showing himself off as a pompous, stuck-up fellow. His most noted accomplishment in his tenure at Bayside was mistakenly kissing Screech’s dog, "Hound Dog", to everybody’s delight.

He is seen in a future episode buying faked gold rings from Zack Morris, which left a green mark on the wearers finger.

Marvin Nedick

Marvin Nedick was Valley's star wrestler and a major threat to AC Slater's undefeated wrestling record. After career day, Slater took up cooking and quit the wrestling team, leaving Screech to wrestle Nedick. As Screech prepared to wrestle Nedick, Slater appeared. When asked why he changed his mind, Slater said he burned his quiche. Slater quickly defeated Nedick in the wrestling match. Nedick would be mentioned on two occasions in the Saved by the Bell spoof 28 Day Slater.

Ollie Creekly

Ollie was an African-American student with a deep, gravelly voice who was on the yearbook committee. He was a bit of an odd-ball and wore nerdy clothing. His appearance and voice strongly resembled that of Steve Urkel on Family Matters.

Ox

Ox (Troy Furman) was the archetypal jock of the school who palled around with Slater when Slater was with his other friends. He was among the students who got drunk senior year at the toga party. Troy Fromin, the actor who played Ox was recycled to play the character “Scud” in one episode, who seemed to be just as goofy as Ox but was more punked-out, with a leather jacket, spiked dog collar and a Slayer t-shirt. Ox's name is most likely a reference to the Archie comics character "Moose" with whom he shares many similarities.

Wendy Parks

Wendy was an overweight girl who appeared on the “Date Auction” episode. She bid $100 and won Zack as a date to the dance. Zack’s superficial nature, however, caused him to craft a multitude of lies in order to avoid a date with the Rubenesque Wendy. When Wendy’s feelings were hurt, Zack realized his mistakes and ended up taking Wendy to the dance and later to the Max (though this was never shown). She is never seen or heard from again.

Jenny Richter

Jenny Richter was a girl who attended the Malibu Sands Beach Club with her father. Zack uses his charm and con skills to convince her to have a beach party when it turns out that their restaurant was double-booked.

Coach Rizzo

Coach Rizzo, one of the many coaches at Bayside, made his one appearance during the episode “Slater’s Friend” as a substitute for an English class; his teaching this class was supposed to be funny because he spoke with a heavy Italian accent. He stood up at Artie the Lizard’s funeral and said some kind words about the reptile.

Rhonda Robestelli

"Look, I've got nothing against Rhonda Robestelli. I've just got this thing about dating anyone who holds the school shotput record." -Zack

Rhonda was Bayside’s resident giant tomboy -- a tall, lanky girl with disheveled blond hair. She and Zack had one date (if you could call it that), during which she forcibly planted a kiss on his lips. Rhonda also tried to join the cheerleading squad in "Save That Tiger" and tried out for the team when one of the regulars was injured right before the big competition against Valley. Her audition was clumsy and the girls eventually talked Jessie into taking the spot. She was seen only in the first season.She was played by Kristin Holmquist. Today Holmquist is now known as Kirsten Kemp, the host of TLC's "Property Ladder".

Robin

Robin (played by Soleil Moon Frye, also known as TV's Punky Brewster) was a stuck-up girl from the episode “Screech’s Spaghetti Sauce.” She took advantage of Screech's affections toward her because of his rapidly growing spaghetti sauce business in order to con money and gifts from him. Although Screech showered her with expensive gifts, including several articles of jewelry, she informed him at the end that she believed him a geek and a loser. She received her comeuppance, however, in the form of a bogus buyback deal for Screech’s spaghetti sauce recipe after the gang learned from a lawyer that Screech's recipe was from the Betsy Crocker Cookbook.

andy

Sandy was a female member of the yearbook committee. She was not much of a help however, as she was too busy listening to the Little Engine that Could on tape while moving her head back and forth rhythmically. This provoked an angry response from Belding, who questioned whether anyone actually read anymore. Sandy was later seen, hanging out with some archetypal greasers in the hallway.

Muffin Sangria

Muffin Sangria was a finalist for homecoming queen in "Cream for a Day". She was mentioned, but not seen in other episodes, such as when Screech becomes the school's new hall monitor and he gets trampled on when the bell rings. Screech says she stepped on him with her high heels. Also, the episode where the students were teachers for a week, Jesse said during an assembly that the talent show would be cancelled because termites destroyed Muffin's ventriloquist dummy, which made everyone laugh.

Mrs. Simpson

Mrs. Simpson was the nearly-deaf, British-accented teacher who taught English class. She also appeared at the beginning of junior year and embarrassed Kelly and Zack by referring to them as “Bayside’s Most Beloved Couple” just a short while after they broke up. She said she didn't like Zack, and once wore a hearing aid that she discarded because the titual bell caused painful sound waves to assault her. She also made an appearance in “The New Class”.

J.B. Slater

Slater's kid sister. She shows up suddenly to visit A.C. and Zack develops a crush on her. This makes A.C. angry as he knows how big a womanizer Zack is, and forbids them from seeing each other. Once J.B. learns of this, she confronts Slater angrily and tells him to butt out of her love life. He eventually accepts that she'll be dating his best friend and thus wouldn't be so bad. He still warns Zack to "treat her right". She is never seen or heard from again.

Maj. Martin Slater

Major Martin Slater was A.C.’s strict but loving father, who was frequently transferred due to Army obligations. Although he wanted his son to attend West Point and enter the military as he himself had done, he eventually changed his views when he saw that Slater wanted to attend college on a wrestling scholarship and figure things out from there. He was more frequent in the first season than any of the others. It is later revealed in "Saved by the Bell: The College Years" that Martin's last name was actually "Sanchez," causing an embarrassed AC Slater to realize his father concealed his Latino heritage to avoid rampant bigotry as he entered the military.

Coach Sonski

Coach Sonski (played by comedian [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0389034/ Monty Hoffman] ) was the wrestling coach at Bayside High. Slightly overweight and with a testosterone-laden personality, he was generally a good coach, if a bit sexist. He depended on Slater as his star wrestler.

"Coach" Sonski was also shown as Bayside's autoshop instructor in the episode where Jessie's new stepbrother comes to California. He retains his sense of humor as well as his testosterone-laden personality throughout the episodes.

Eric Tramer

Eric Tramer (likely named after co-executive producer Bennett Tramer) was Jessie’s stepbrother from New York in the episode, "The Wicked Step-Brother". At first excited to have a new step-brother, Jessie quickly grew to dislike his rough, confrontational, and honest personality. Eric caused trouble and conflict at Bayside, particularly with Zack who felt threatened by the new prankster bad-boy, even going so far as to offer up Mr. Belding’s car for autoshop class dissection to get Zack into trouble. However, after a punch and a speech from Jessie, he reformed his ways, entirely reassembled Belding’s car, and apologized to all. He was planning to return to NYC, but the gang, particularly Lisa, who had developed feelings for him, convinced him to remain at Bayside; though he was never shown again.

Eric is introduced by Jessie as her mother's new husband's son.

Craig Strand

Craig Strand was Stacy Carosi’s preppy boyfriend from back east in Boston, a sophomore at Yale , who showed up at the beach club and interrupted Zack and Stacy’s fling, even giving Stacy his fraternity pin. Craig defeated Zack in an ATV race after bumping Zack's ATV on the last turn. Ultimately, Stacy sent Craig back home and confided her love for Zack.

Brandon Tartikoff

Brandon Tartikoff, a television executive for NBC, appeared as himself in the episode "No Hope With Dope". After Johnny Dakota was revealed to be a pot-smoker and subsequently left Bayside without finishing the anti-drug commercial being filmed there, Mr. Belding phoned Tartikoff, whom he had been childhood friends with, at NBC to see if he could help them. Tartikoff ended up assisting the teens in finishing the commercial. Afterwards, impressed with the rapport Belding had with his students, he suggested the idea of a TV show about "a group of kids and their principal" before shaking his head and saying that it "would never work" (an obvious meta-joke on SBTB itself).

George Testaverde

Mr. Testaverde taught a history class in the episode "The Gift". He was nicknamed "Terrible" Testaverde by the students because he was one of the hardest teachers at Bayside. Not only was he tough on grading and exams, but he gave lectures in "speed talk", causing Jessie to almost set fire to the papers she wrote on, and Screech to write with both hands. Both Jessie and Screech actually tried to keep up, but Zack totally ignored the lecture and listened to music instead. He was played by John Moschitta, most well known for his roles as the "Micro Machines" speed talker as well as the Autobot Blurr in (1986) and seasons 3 & 4 of the Transformers tv series.

Mr. Dickerson

Played by Raf Mauro, Dickerson was a history teacher known for his unfriendly demeanor and an impossible midterm that no student had passed in three years, something which he stupidly referred to with pride instead of noticing it meant he was a horrible teacher. In the episode known as "The Fabulous Belding Brothers," Dickerson has a nervous breakdown and is replaced by the very popular Rod Belding.

Mr. Tuttle

Played by Jack Angeles, Tuttle was an enthusiastic, overweight teacher (perhaps a foil for the thin, dour Mr. Dewey). He also oversaw, among other things, Driver’s Ed and the Glee Club. His relationship with Mr. Belding was strained and confrontational--with Belding mainly on the receiving end of his barbs. It was revealed in the "Driver's Ed." episode that Mr. Tuttle was next in line to Mr. Belding for the principal job and even had "the colors for the office all picked out," thus creating tension between them. He once dubbed the principal "Mr. Balding".

He appeared sporadically throughout the seasons and was on the forefront of the teacher’s strike during senior year as head of the teacher's union. It's also worth noting that Mr. Tuttle was one of the few teachers who actually liked and admired Zack Morris, often delighting in Zack's clever schemes (e.g. "Wow! Good plan!").

Ms. Wentworth

Played by Carol Lawrence, Ms. Wentworth was the Social Studies teacher during sophomore year who piqued Zack’s interest in his family heritage by assigning a family research project. She also taught the class about subliminal advertising, which led to a predictably hair-brained scheme from Zack. Ms. Wentworth is one of Bayside's more enthusiastic and unorthodox teachers, climbing on desks and cracking playful jokes in class.

Like Mr. Tuttle, she is one of the few teachers who genuinely seems to like Zack--even as she teaches him a lesson.

James the Actor

James was an out-of-work actor who took a job as a waiter at the Max. He says that he is a student at acting school. Most of the work he seems to get as an actor on the show is in the employ of Zack. In one episode Zack hires James to do a double role as a college professor who orders Mr. Belding to lighten up Zack's workload after his good performance on the SATs, then to play an admissions officer for Harvard who acts snooty and elitist to everyone. In another episode Zack hired James to impersonate his father after Belding demanded he meet with him as a condition to go on a ski trip in order to report on Zack's failing grades; to which Zack was convinced his real father would not let him go if he knew the truth. Zack then has to hire James again to play Mr. Belding after his real father accepts a letter to meet Belding once more, where James falsifies Zack's grades as spectacular.

Whereas Max served as more of an adult figure, James was more of a kid-at-heart who joined in on the gang's adventures, rather than advising them. Accordingly, Zack often treated him like Screech.
