March 17 ,1933 inChicago ) was a professional football player and coach. After starring at Purdue, Bettis was selected by theGreen Bay Packers in the first round of the1955 NFL Draft . He played nine seasons as alinebacker for the Packers,Pittsburgh Steelers , andChicago Bears . Bettis served as interim coach of theKansas City Chiefs in 1977 after the firing ofPaul Wiggin .
