Lee Gold is a prominent member of California
science fiction fandom and an influential writer and editor in therole-playing game andfilk music communities.Gold became prominent in the mid-to-late 1970s as the editor of "
Alarums and Excursions ", a monthlyamateur press association to which numerous influential RPG writers have contributed over the years.In the late 1980s, Gold also began publishing "
Xenofilkia ", a popular bimonthly collection of filk lyrics to which numerous influential songwriters have contributed, includingLeslie Fish , Tom Smith andBob Kanefsky . As of this writing, these two magazines are still being published regularly: April, 2008 saw the publication of Issue 303 of "Alarums and Excursions" and Issue 118 of "Xenofilkia".She also has several professional credits in the RPG field, including "Land of the Rising Sun" and "
Lands of Adventure ", published byFantasy Games Unlimited , "GURPS Japan " forSteve Jackson Games and "Vikings" forIron Crown Enterprises .
