AC Entertainment is a music promotion company based in
Knoxville, Tennessee . Nationally, they are best known as the co-producers of theBonnaroo Music Festival andVegoose , both withSuperfly Productions . In Knoxville, they are best known as the managers of theTennessee Theatre and Bijou Theatre and as the producers of "Sundown in the City", a summer concert festival in Market Square. The company produces and promotes a variety of music and performing arts events across the country with an emphasis on the Southeast. The company was also involved in starting the alternative weekly "Metro Pulse ", although the two companies are now independent.AC Entertainment is headed by
Ashley Capps of Knoxville, who founded the company in 1991. Its name is derived from his initials. Capps got his start as a music promoter during the 1970s, when he booked events at theUniversity of Tennessee and at off-campus venues in Knoxville. During the 1980s he operated a music club in Knoxville called Ella Guru's.
