Loughborough University Centre of Cricketing Excellence is a centre under Loughborough University in England. The University is the site for the new National Cricket Academy from Autumn 2003. Loughborough combines education, research and facility provision for a wide range of sports and individual performers. The facilities, expertise and commitment, which come together on the Loughborough campus, benefit individual sports and their squads. As one of Loughborough’s priority sports, Cricket benefits from this wide ranging, but integrated, provision for academic and sporting excellence.

The Cricket Coaching is overseen by Assistant Coach and former Test opening bowler Graham Dilley being Loughborough’s Head Coach, in charge of the technical programme. He is assisted by coaching support which has recently included Nottinghamshire’s Paul Johnson (Batting) and Chris Read (Wicket Keeping). While Dilley is with the England team this Winter, Wayne Noon from Nottinghamshire will take charge of the training programme. Graham Dilley is assisted by: a Director of Cricket for development monitoring and academic mentoring; a Fitness Advisor experienced with both County Clubs and ECB; a Sports Psychologist; a Physiotherapist working with the squad on physical screening, injury prevention regimes and remedial treatment; and a range of additional generic Sports Science and Sports Medicine back-up on the Loughborough campus, which is the envy of many County Clubs.

Dedicated ground staff maintain standard facilities for playing and training, in support of the University’s successful Cricket squads, both male and female, elite and recreational cricketers. Standard on-campus facilities include: 2 University Cricket grounds, full run-up indoor nets, grass and artificial outdoor net provision, access to the University’s strength and conditioning and aerobic fitness centres, facilities for technical analysis, and to other facilities on campus which are utilised for integrated cross-training. From Autumn 2003, Loughborough University will host the permanent UK site for the National Cricket Academy, which will provide Loughborough UCCE and the other University squads with access to indoor training venues.
