"I Wrote a Simple Song" is an album by Billy Preston released in 1971. This album continues Preston's inclusion of gospel-themed songs in his music dating from 1967's Club Meeting. Preston friend "Harry Georgison" provided slide guitar accompaniment on the title track.

The instrumental "Outa-Space" won a Grammy Award for best song. It was also one of the clarion calls for the coming importance of the synthesizer in popular music.
