Javelin is the name of a fictional DC Comics supervillain.

Fictional character biography

The Javelin’s true identity has never been revealed but it is known that he is a German former Olympic athlete who turned to a life of crime, using his uncanny abilities with a javelin-based weapons arsenal. Javelin and his henchmen were already well-established criminals-for-hire when the Monitor hooked them up with Congressman Jason Bloch. The Javelin succeeded in stealing Ferris Aircraft's new solar jet and defeating Green Lantern Hal Jordan with his gimmicked projectiles but overplayed his hand when he tried to use a javelin-rocket to destroy Ferris. Captured by Green Lantern, the villain later resurfaced and allegedly fought Skyrocket of the Power Company. He later agreed to serve with the Suicide Squad in exchange for the purging of his criminal record. His last Squad mission was a battle with Circe as part of a company-wide "War of the Gods" crossover. It takes place in issue #58. Javelin is part of an entirely new version of the Squad, created to simply have cannon fodder. During the invasion the sorceress impales Javelin with one of his own weapons, after which he was believed to be dead (another fatallity on the same mission is Grant Morrison).

Javelin later appears in San Francisco, remarking upon his apparent demise years earlier and his subsequent survival, working for Doctor Cyber. He is once again defeated by his old enemy Skyrocket.

One Year Later

In the pages of "Checkmate" v2, #6, Javelin is recruited by Mirror Master in an attempt to frame Amanda Waller. He was killed during their first mission.

Powers and abilities

Javelin’s primary weapons were collapsible javelins he wears them in a specially designed holster around his waist. These weapons include an explosive javelin, a harpoon javelin, a cluster javelin and a javelin filled with polymer paint. Javelin has boots with miniature jets which enable him to fly.

Javelin is an Olympic level athlete and a superior fighter.

Other media

In "Justice League Unlimited", Javelin appears as one of the latest recruits of the Secret Society.
