Alphamosaic was spun out of its parent company, Cambridge Consultants Ltd, by Robert Swann and Steve Barlow in 2000. In September 2004, Alphamosaic was acquired by Broadcom for $123m [ [http://www.broadcom.com/press/release.php?id=616468&source=alphamosaic Broadcom Acquires Alphamosaic Limited, a Leading Developer of Mobile Multimedia Processors for Cellular Phones] , accessed on March 29, 2008.] , forming its Mobile Multimedia group on the Cambridge Science Park site.
